I am Anya, a travel professional from Ukraine, who has spent over 2 years living in Tenerife.

My love affair with this Canarian island began in March 2023, during a time of significant upheaval. My husband and I were navigating the challenges of escaping the war in Ukraine, which led us to move frequently in search of stability. After living in various parts of Europe (and at that time living in Malaga), we still hadn’t found a place that felt like home.

In a moment of spontaneity, we decided to take a trip to Tenerife. And then what was meant to be a quick trip turned into a life-changing experience. 

The island’s heavenly feel and slow, incredibly peaceful lifestyle were exactly what we needed at that time. We got so deeply moved by its tranquil vibe and the profound sense of belonging that we decided to extend our stay, turning what was meant to be a brief visit into a more extended exploration.

As the weeks turned into months, our affection for Tenerife deepened. We realized that this island offered something special – a feeling of home that we hadn’t found elsewhere. Since both of us work online, this provided us the flexibility to make Tenerife our more permanent base. So, we chose to stay and make it our home.

Tenerife quickly became our base, offering us both a sense of stability and the perfect backdrop for frequent travels across Europe, thanks to its excellent connections with the continent.

Since settling here, we’ve come to cherish the island’s breathtaking scenery, traveling around frequently to uncover its hidden gems, black sand beaches, and many wonders. Even though we’ve explored much of what Tenerife has to offer, surprisingly, there’s always something new to see and experience. 

And despite my love for extensive travel, I’ve found a deep appreciation for island life, continually enjoying familiar activities while uncovering fresh adventures.

To share my journey and help others experience Tenerife at its best, I’ve created this site.

Here, you’ll find insights into how to experience Tenerife to its fullest (especially if you are a first-time visitor here), advice on moving to the island, and a glimpse into what life is like here. 

I also plan to add information on other islands of the Canary Islands archipelago since we started to travel and explore them in depth too. As of now, I have a few articles about Gran Canaria, also based on my personal experience.
