How to Reach All Mentioned Areas
The best way to reach these accommodations in Tenerife is by having your own car. This allows you to seamlessly connect with all these distinctive places to stay throughout the island.
I recommend you browse for a car on DiscoverCars if you need to rent it at the airport and on the LocalRent website when needing a car in the city or smaller town.
Getting to some of them is also possible by bus. I indicate which destinations are accessible by public transport and which ones are definitely not reachable.
I have a list of road trips in Tenerife that highlight other interesting and unique lodging options for your trip to the island.
Unique Accommodations in Tenerife
Hotel Boutique San Diego
- in La Laguna
This is an adult-only hotel housed in a beautifully restored 19th-century building that reflects the architectural style of the area. It was a historic family manor that in 2020 was transformed into a stylish retreat, combining luxury with a homely atmosphere.
A few things that are particularly special about it – its intimate setting (located on a quiet street in La Laguna, within walking distance to the old city, yet very hidden), unique design (each room has its own unique character and story), and romantic feel (decor is full of elegance and comfort, ideal for couples wanting a cozy retreat).
They also provide private parking to guests, have very cozy restaurant with a garden terrace, and offer Thai massages.
Choose to stay here for the natural setting and tranquil ambiance in Tenerife’s first capital La Laguna, where history meets romance and main attractions are just moments away.
Hotel Spa Villalba
- in Vilaflor, on the way to Teide from the south
This hotel is a fantastic place to stay in south Tenerife if you want a secluded, nature-focused retreat in a cooler, peaceful setting away from the coast.
It’s also an ideal spot for those staying long-term on the island who want a refreshing change of scenery, with the chance to spend a few days right in the heart of a pine forest.
The main feature of this hotel is its amazing location – on elevation in the peaceful coniferous grove, in a very quiet area which is a perfect setting for couples on honeymoons, anniversaries, surprise trips, or any other occasions when you simply want to enjoy each other’s company in unique accommodation on Tenerife.
Here, you can breathe in the fresh pine aroma, take walks on the nearby trails, soak in the hydrotherapy pool (which is part of the outdoor terrace surrounded by pines) or relax in a steam room, unwind on your balcony in a peaceful solitude with a book, or stargaze at night. The stars, by the way, are incredibly clear here, thanks to the 1,500-meter elevation.
NOTE: This is a fantastic place where to stay in Tenerife in summer when it’s hot because you can escape to cooler temperatures. But also (!) it is a nice place to stay in Tenerife in December when temperatures drop and the spirit of Christmas is around. The hotel gets a bit of festive decorations, and the smell and sight of the surrounding pine trees truly evoke the essence of the holidays.
Hotel Emblematico San Agustin
- in Icod de los Vinos
You’ll find this accommodation in Icod de los Vinos which is all about cozy intimacy and a genuine connection to Tenerife’s heritage. The location is right in the center but somewhat unnoticed, in a historical building that reflects the island’s colonial past and feels both special and homey at the same time.
There are a few other nice places to stay in Icod de los Vinos and nearby Garachico, but what sets this lodging apart is the way it embodies the local character – think authentic decor, charming details, and a warm atmosphere that invites you to relax and feel like you are in a bygone era.
Couples will appreciate the romantic vibe that permeates the space, from the intimate courtyard to the tranquil setting that allows for peaceful evenings after a day of exploration.
The location is another major plus. Icod de los Vinos is a beautiful town in Tenerife worth spending some time in. So, you can have a romantic getaway here, stay in comfort and in style while exploring one of the most interesting parts of the island.
Hacienda Cuatro Ventanas
- in the vicinity of Puerto de la Cruz
This mini-hotel with private villas reminds me of a slice of Bali, where architecture features open-air designs, natural materials, and an emphasis on blending with the landscape.
However, instead of the dense jungles or rice terraces that Bali is known for, here you can enjoy Tenerife’s famous views of expansive banana plantations, calming presence of palm trees, and dramatic cliffs on the horizon. And Puerto de la Cruz is just a short drive away.
The villas are designed with an intimate touch, incorporating wooden elements and thatched roofs that create an atmosphere of living in the wild, all while providing modern amenities.
There are six self-contained villas, with El Patio being a standout option. This one-bedroom villa features a chic contemporary design and offers direct access to the serene corners of the estate, surrounded by lush tropical plants. Amenities include a fully equipped kitchen, high-speed internet, a private terrace, and access to an infinity swimming pool
The hacienda is not just about comfort. It also provides opportunities for wellness, yoga sessions, and massages. You need to book it for a minimum of two nights.
NOTE: The location is perfect (close to black sand beaches in Tenerife’s north as well as Loro Park), but for convenience having a car is advised. Parking here is free.
Steps to the Beach Apartment
- in Las Gaviotas near Santa Cruz
This is quite an unusual place to stay in Tenerife North in the vicinity of Santa Cruz, within a short walk from the beach.
This apartment is located in the building directly carved into a rock formation on the beach, providing sea views from the balcony just steps away. The beach is somewhat private, because to reach it you need to descend through the apartment building where you need to be a resident.
So by staying here, you get a unique chance to have a beach break with a distinctive architectural experience and be close to Playa de las Teresitas (yellow sand beach) and Santa Cruz without paying much and having a secluded quiet stay.
The apartment itself is small and basic but is fully equipped (very clean as per reviews from others) and is an intriguing choice for those seeking a memorable stay.
NOTE: It is suitable only for those who have a car since the location is remote! Also, if you are sensitive to environmental changes or have underlying health issues, it is better to stay here only for a very short period (like 1-3 days, not more) to make it special. There is increased humidity here and salt exposure which is quite overwhelming and bothersome.
CASANAGA APARTMENT
- in Rural Area of the North by the Benijo Beach
Here’s another intriguing location to stay in Tenerife, ideal for those who love unique, remote places where you can disconnect from the world and immerse yourself in nature, experiencing the lifestyle of local communities.
This spot is situated in a breathtaking area near Playa de Benijo, a wide beach with volcanic sand and striking mountains in the background.
The accommodation itself is a balance between a hostel and a private home, offering different types of rooms, including dormitory-style bunk beds and private rooms with double beds. All reviews are wonderful.
I’ve passed by it several times and have always admired its prime location and magnificent vistas. There’s a terrace for relaxation, reading, or yoga, and cafes with bars are within walking distance.
