Staying in H10 Atlantic Sunset Hotel – Honest Review & Insider Tips

If you’re considering a stay at H10 Atlantic Sunset Hotel in Tenerife South, this review will give you a first-hand experience of what to expect. From the rooms and facilities to dining and service, I’ll cover everything – including practical tips to make the most of your stay.

Choosing the right all-inclusive hotel in Tenerife can feel overwhelming – so many options, so many mixed reviews. H10 Atlantic Sunset was the first all-inclusive property I ever stayed at on the island, and it became the benchmark for every hotel I tried after. Since then, I’ve explored many other stays (not just hotels but some unique apartments), but this was where it all started.

I’ve stayed in H10 Atlantic Sunset Horizons Collection Hotel twice in different room types (first one was a double swim-up room with direct swimming pool access and another one was a double room with a balcony), so I’ve had the chance to compare experiences.

This is not a sponsored review – I booked this hotel on my own, and I’m sharing my thoughts simply because I want to, not because the hotel paid me. I wasn’t even planning to write about it, but while going through so many beautiful photos from both of my visits, I couldn’t help but put my experience into words.

If you’re considering this place, here’s everything you need to know – no sugarcoating, just real insights from my stays.

Why I Chose to Stay in H10 Atlantic Sunset Hotel

My decision to stay at H10 Atlantic Sunset was based on careful research. I had three main criteria:

  1. I wanted to experience an all-inclusive stay in Tenerife.
  2. I didn’t want to spend a fortune.
  3. I preferred a location in the south where to enjoy the sun but not in crowded areas like Costa Adeje or Playa de las Americas.

After comparing multiple options, I finally chose H10 Atlantic Sunset. Now, I’m here to share a quick review and all the details about my stay.

What I Liked About H10 Atlantic Sunset Tenerife

  • Location: This hotel is in a quiet area in one of the lesser-known pretty Tenerife towns, away from mass tourism, situated on a hill with beautiful sea views. Walking to the ocean is manageable, but the location might be inconvenient if you don’t plan to rent a car. Without a car, getting out of the hotel to explore other areas is challenging.
  • Food Variety: For an affordable all-inclusive hotel, the food selection was impressive, although the quality varied – some dishes were well-prepared, while others felt repetitive or lacked flavor. Overall, I think the food choices were excellent for the price. There were multiple types of meat, fish, fresh vegetables, vegetarian options, and a great variety of desserts. Aside from the main restaurant, there was also:
    • Cafe serving tea, coffee, and pastries throughout the day.
    • Poolside snack bar offering burgers, nuggets, tacos, fries, and other fast food options.
    • Specialty restaurant with Japanese cuisine (reservations in advance are needed).
  • Cleanliness: The hotel was spotless, with regular cleaning throughout the day. The pools were well-maintained, and the public areas were kept in great condition.
  • Pools: Though not many, the pools were well-designed for different guests:
    • General-use pool for everyone.
    • Dedicated children’s pool for families.
    • Adults-only infinity pool with fantastic sunset views.
  • Entertainment: The evening entertainment was well-organized, with live music, shows, and performances offering something to both kids and adults. The daytime activities were more limited (mainly yoga and some group classes in the pool), but the evening programs made up for it.
  • Service (Mostly): While the reception staff wasn’t particularly friendly or helpful, the restaurant and cafe staff were warm.
  • Ample parking: There is a big private parking lot that belongs to the hotel and if all spots are taken there, you’ll find free street parking nearby.

What I Didn’t Like

One of the things I didn’t like was how cold water in the main pool was (this is specifically the pool where the room with a private pool opens to)
sitting on a balcony in all-inclusive hotel
Another thing – all rooms on that side of the hotel which faces Hard Rock Hotel have more noise than rooms facing the inner pool area
  • Check-In & Check-Out Delays: Our check-in/check-out wait times were too long. On our first visit, we waited for about 30 minutes, and on the second, it was more than an hour. After checking recent reviews, it seems this issue persists, and hotel hasn’t made any improvements. While this may not happen to everyone, it’s something to be prepared for, depending on your arrival time.
  • Poolside Chair Reservations: No one regulated the poolside loungers, so guests would leave towels and bags on chairs all day without actually using them. By midday, all loungers appeared “taken” but many were empty in reality. This was frustrating since there weren’t enough loungers for all guests, and we didn’t want to join the trend of reserving one just for the sake of it. (This issue was less of a problem when we booked a room with a private pool.)
  • Unheated Pools: The only pool that is heated (to 21 degrees) is the infinity pool for adults (but it is not warm enough when cold wind is blowing in January or in February). Other pools are not heated. In winter, it will be too cold to swim in them. Our first stay there was in May and swimming was quite refreshing.
  • Extra Charges for Some Amenities: Certain services, such as premium drinks and spa access, are overpriced compared to hotels of similar level in the area. I can compare because we also visited the spa in the Hard Rock Hotel across the road.
  • Very Poor Wi-Fi: Internet connection is weak or unreliable in many spots around the hotel, especially in rooms farther from the main areas.

Location

H10 Atlantic Sunset is located in Playa Paraíso, in the south of Tenerife. It is approximately 25 minutes by car from Costa Adeje and about a 5-minute drive from the nearest beach.

The area is quieter compared to other parts of Southern Tenerife, with local shops, restaurants, and attractions within a short drive.

This hotel has a modern design with clean lines and spacious layouts. The style is minimalist, with a focus on natural light and open spaces.

All rooms are spacious (even the smallest standard ones) and designed in a contemporary style. They have wooden floors (not tiles like most of the hotels here) and come with air conditioning, separate sitting areas, and minibars.

Entertainment & Activities

At H10 Atlantic Sunset, expect a mix of entertainment and activities to keep things engaging. Evenings are filled with live music, dynamic performances, and shows, creating an atmosphere that shifts from laid-back to lively.

During the day, you can stretch out with yoga sessions or get your heart pumping with water aerobics, though the choices are limited.

Transportation & Accessibility

Getting around H10 Atlantic Sunset requires a bit of planning. Renting a car is highly recommended, as the hotel is situated in a more remote area, making it easier to explore Tenerife at your own pace whether you go on one of the road trips around the island or just around some beautiful photo locations.

Public transport options in the area are limited, so having a car gives you more freedom to visit nearby attractions. The hotel does offer a shuttle service, but it’s worth noting that availability can be limited, so it’s best to check ahead if you’re relying on it.

NOTE: If you need to rent a car, I recommend you compare prices between Localrent with deals from Discovercars. The first one offers an option to deliver the car to your location if needed while the second one is best for the car hire at the airport.

Food

H10 Atlantic Sunset Hotel offers a mix of buffet and à la carte dining, but don’t expect true five-star quality.

The variety is there – international, Asian teppanyaki, Italian, and even an American-style diner, but execution can be hit or miss. While some dishes stand out, others feel mass-produced and not particularly refined.

If food is a big part of your trip, you might find yourself wanting to eat out rather than relying solely on the hotel’s offerings.

Practical Tips To Have a Pleasant Stay in H10 Atlantic Sunset Hotel

Based on my personal stay, I can draw the following conclusions and share key insights for those planning to stay at H10 Atlantic Sunset Horizons Collection:

  • If you want a quiet stay when booking a standard type of room, request a room that does not face Hard Rock Hotel, as music from there (pretty much all day long) is loud and easily heard in the room even with closed windows.
  • If you are traveling to Tenerife in December, the cheapest time to book H10 hotel is between Dec 10th – Dec 20th, but do it in advance.
  • In my opinion, the paid privilege access is not worth the extra cost – it only provides access to a seating area and a rooftop pool with no major benefits.
  • You need to rent a car when staying here if you plan to travel around and explore Tenerife South or Tenerife North. H10 Atlantic Sunset is situated in a remote location and has limited public transport. If visiting only for the hotel stay itself, then do not worry about the car.
  • Be prepared for long check-in waits, especially during peak arrival times.
  • Poolside loungers are often “reserved” early in the morning, so if you want one, you may need to claim it early too, but don’t do it if you don’t plan to stay by the pool.
  • Infinity pool is the only pool that is heated, so if you’re visiting in the winter months, consider whether you (or your children) will be comfortable swimming in other pools. Сhildren’s pool warms up better because it’s shallow, and thanks to the sun, it remains relatively comfortable even in winter.
  • If you need strong Wi-Fi for work or streaming, consider bringing a backup connection like a mobile hotspot or be ready to hang out in the lobby/cafe area.

Final Thoughts On H10 Atlantic Sunset Hotel

H10 Atlantic Sunset is a great value-for-money all-inclusive hotel with a peaceful location and good food variety. However, be prepared for potential inconveniences like long check-in times as well as too many people in the summer and in winter.

There is also a limited number of poolside loungers and somewhat poor soundproofing. So if you are choosing to stay in this hotel during the busy season (including Christmas time), this can be a bit of an issue for some people.

Also, if you plan to explore beyond the hotel, renting a car is going to be a necessity.

Despite a few downsides, I enjoyed my stays here, and it was a great introduction to all-inclusive experiences in Tenerife.

Would I stay here again? No, because two visits were more than enough and I want to experience other all-inclusive hotels on the island.
